White Rock’s Picnic on the Pier 2018

On August 9th, our rentals were used for White Rock’s third annual Picnic on the Pier. Not only was it a beautiful evening where guests got to enjoy a gourmet picnic dinner on the water, it raised $65,000 for the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation’s all-abilities playground initiative.

With the use of 116 tables and 475 chairs, we were able to construct a jaw-dropping long table along the 1,600 ft White Rock Pier. Yes, that means there were also 475 plates, 475 sets of cutlery, and a whole lot of linen used to complete this outdoor picnic! The Joseph Richard Group provided the amazing food, drift wood was used for décor, and string lights were hung along the top of the table to provide light after the sun set. It was a beautiful sight.

The load-in for this spectacular evening presented its challenges. It took 10 of our delivery team 4 hours to unload the rentals into a parking lot, which was 650 feet away from the pier! Remember, the Pier itself is 1,600 feet long! The same logistics took place for take down. It was all worth it though, the event will be helping create a beautiful all-abilities park.

The new park – a $900,000 initiative of the PAHF, City of White Rock, and White Rock Fire Fighter’s Charitable Society, is expected to be completed in 2018. It will be replacing the old playground at Ruth Johnson Park and will be inclusive of people with all abilities. This means that kids, adults, and seniors using assistant devices such as walkers and wheelchairs will be able to enjoy the new area.
